Am I Cheating in Meditation?

As I look forward to teaching my next meditation workshop for women, I'm thinking about how important music is to me in my practice. It draws me in and allows me to detach from my monkey mind. I love anything that makes letting go easier.

Some might say it's cheating to play beautiful music during meditation because I'm not dealing with what's happening in the mind; I'm not moving through it and getting to the other side; I'm skipping a step. But I don't believe there's such a thing as cheating when it comes to meditation. I think anything that gets me out of the muck of the everyday and into the insight of my higher self is fair game.

I put together a sampling of the sacred songs I'm listening to now. Have a listen to my playlist and, more importantly, come to "Let Go" this Sunday, November 10. We're back to the regular time of 11am-1pm, and, as always, we'll be at NJ Acupuncture (70 Park Street, Suite 208, in Montclair) with easy parking in the lot in front of and behind the building. I'll be teaching a beautiful, moving meditation for the  heart. Click the sign up button to let me know you'll be there.

Another reason to come is I'm committing to making time for the traditional closing song of a Kundalini Yoga class, Longtime Sun. We sing it to extend the blessings of our practice to everyone, everywhere. My favorite version is Snatam Kaur's which is on the playlist below. If you don't know this song. It's very easy to learn. Here are the words:
May the longtime sun shine upon you
All love surround you
And the pure light within you
Guide your way on
Here it is again... Your chance to choose bliss! Click the sign up button to send me an email letting me know you're coming . Would love to see all you lovely ladies there and help you "cheat" your way to bliss!
